March 6th Round-Up!

Good Tyler Florence Friday to all! We are proud to announce, at long last, the winner of our Create a Badge contest! Leanne of Enjoying my Favorite Things created this simple and lovely badge out of classic Tyler graphics. Feel free to put it on your sidebar and link back to Tyler Florence Fridays! Congratulations Leanne, you have won a Tyler Florence cookbook!

And speaking of winning a Tyler Florence cookbook... our March give-away winner is Joanne of Eats Well With Others, congratulations Joanne!

Now, without further ado... let's see what our awesome home cooks have whipped up this week.

Andrea of Nummy Kitchen made Spaetzle with Brandied Mushrooms, successfully marrying two of Tyler's recipes together. Spaetzle is in the same family as pasta, gnocchi and small dumplings and are something I have always wanted to try - and honestly, what doesn't go with brandied mushrooms? They are a match made in heaven, as far as Andrea is concerned!

Deb of Kahakai Kitchen was so entranced by the deliciousness of the Borlotti Beans with Woody Herbs that she has almost forgiven Tyler for leading her on a wild bean chase. Apparently Borlottis also go by the more common Cranberry beans. Who knew?

Our naughty but nice Donna of My Tasty Treasures had a great time in the kitchen with Tyler whipping up these Banana Pecan Pancakes with Maple Honey Butter. They are light and rich and delicious, like a heavenly breakfast pillow.

Our newest member, Glennis of Cantbelieveweate made this stunning Seared Tuna with Chinese Salad and Ginger-Soy Vinaigrette. What great colours to celebrate the coming of Spring! And Glennis, I vote for the Riesling.. or maybe even a Gewurztraminer?

Another one of our newest members, Hannah of Sweet Cupcake Torture, made these adorable Truffle Tarts with Raspberries and Whipped Cream. She warns us though, they are very rich!
I know who Deb is going to sit beside at dinner.. who could resist such a gorgeous little treat?

Jenny of All Things Edible brought out these fine dishes handed down from generations of.. ok, they are Chinette.. But Jenny had spent all of her energy making three Tyler dishes for a special night in. Pot Roast Tacos, Ultimate Guacamole and San Marzano "Quick" Salsa. Whew! Give that lady a margarita - stat! She deserves it.

Karen of Something Sweet by Karen made this beautiful dish of Rigatoni with Spicy Italian Sausage, Cream, Tomatoes and Peas. She even took a leap of faith and included the blanched peas, and was very happy with the whole dish. Tyler does it again! Kitty was also happy with the new box to nest in from all the Tyler books Karen has invested in! Good times all around here, you don't have to be human to enjoy Tyler Florence Fridays.

Kim of Stirring the Pot was cooking up a storm again this week. One of the dishes she baked up was My Big, Fat, Chocolate Chip Cookies. Kim made them for some new neighbours and proclaimed them the best chocolate chip cookies ever. High praise! Nice way to be greeted too.... wonder why nobody baked for me when I moved in here...?

Kim also whipped up this dish of Chicken Breasts with Orange, Olive and New Potatoes. A very colourful and delicious looking combination. Kim loved the fresh, light flavours in this one and highly recommends the recipe.

Kristin of Sogkonnite Living made Tyler's General Tso's Chicken after seeing it on Jenny's site last week. Although it wasn't her favourite interpretation of this dish, she did appreciate that everybody at the table liked it and ate it. Not easy when there are children involved!

Megan of My Baking Adventures decided to demonstrate this month's Megan's Challenge for Tyler Florence Fridays. She made Tyler's Ultimate Fish Tacos for her family and pronounced them The Best! They certainly do look tasty! To find out more about our monthly optional bonus challenge, click here.

Michelle from Big Black Dog made this warming and comforting Beef Stroganoff with Buttered Noodles. She had been craving such a dish, but with the funny weather didn't know if she should be thinking about lighter fare. Finally she just went ahead and made it and was very pleased with the results - but not as pleased as Mr. Tastebuds!

Muneeba of An Edible Symphony made these beautiful Roasted Pears with Gorgonzola and was absolutely thrilled with the flavour combinations. Muneeba is the second to note that Tyler has a way with desserts, he even managed to win over Muneeba's husband - no small feat! These were lovely enough to stand on their own for a small lunch, and I think would be a wonderful brunch feature too.

Nancy of The Dogs Eat the Crumbs made this comforting bowl of Tyler's Ultimate "Chicken Noodle" Soup. A play on ingredients, it uses chicken sausage and tortellini. Nancy found it a bit intensive in the dish department but loved the flavours and compares it to an Italian Wedding Soup.

Natalia of Gatti Fili e Farina made this American classic - Mac and Cheese with Peas and Bacon. Natalia is from Italy and was intrigued by the new world combination. She wasn't able to find all the original ingredients for it, so gave it a local twist. Natalia kept the veggies separate from the pasta and got the nicest compliment on her Mac and Cheese, 'buonissimissimissimo!'

Over at Living in the Kitchen with Puppies, I made Tyler's Fish and Chips with Homemade Tartar Sauce. All the stars were aligned on this one, spuds and haddock were on sale, and I got one wonderful dish out of it! This is the best thing I ate all week, well done Tyler!

Pam of Sidewalk Shoes made this beautiful Here-Comes-Spring dish of White Bean and Roasted Shrimp Salad with Cherry Tomato Vinaigrette. Pam loved that it only used up two pans (Naughty Tyler has a rep for creating a lot of dirty dishes!) and has two of her favourite flavours,
bacon and shrimp. Mmmm, who doesn't love bacon and shrimp!?!
~
This ends our March 6th round-up, thanks to everyone who cooked along with us this week. And welcome to our newest member Glennis of Cantbelieveweate!

This is so much fun to read. I'll have a taste of each, but keep me away from the shrimp.....I'll eat it all because it's my favorite.
